Just purchased this on the strength of the other reviews. I used to use an Arcam AirDac (now discontinued). The sound quality of the AirDac was amazing, but suffered from intermittent drop outs due to our very poor home wi-fi signal.

I connected it all up when I got home, passing USB from the PC and coax from the squeezebox into the Arcam and plugging the analog outs into the processor in bypass mode (as direct as I can get from DAC to power amp). The DAC seems to need a very strong signal to work smoothly. The signal in the room that I am using the DAC in isn't full strength but had been fine for Apple TV and Amazon TV. Despite the AirDAC showing green lights for the connections when streaming it kept breaking up and losing contact. The airDAC's WiFi is compatible with 802.11 b/g/n but it also hosts a wired Ethernet (RJ45) connector for the most reliable results from your network.

This concept was not new to Arcam as we were the first company to launch an outboard DAC way back in 1987. Arcam’s return to the consumer DAC market six years ago was long overdue.
